As a native of Texas, Valerie spent most of her childhood weekends with her family at their ranch near Meridian, TX where she was taught the value of hard work. Whether she was corralling cattle or mending fences, Valerie approached all tasks with grit and determination, a lesson taught to her by her parents.
Those formative years laboring on the ranch alongside her parents and brothers began developing her extraordinary work ethic, which has become her calling card throughout life. Valerie learned you can’t bale hay by taking shortcuts and you can’t tend cattle by sleeping past sunrise – lessons she carries with her to this day. She was strongly influenced by the hardworking ranchers and farmers of her youth who believed that the American Dream was attainable through perseverance. Valerie graduated early from R.L. Turner High School and even considered becoming a law enforcement officer after joining the police explorer program with the City of Farmers Branch.
After graduation, Valerie took the work ethic learned on the ranch and began working full time for the City of Farmers Branch in order to save for college. It was that work that helped pay her way through college without any debt and she graduated from University of North Texas with a BBA in Economics.
After graduation, she immediately began working as marketing manager for a satellite communications entity located in Las Colinas. This first post-college job was the beginning of her 20+ year career in sales, marketing and management within the broadcasting and telecommunications industries. By 2005, Valerie had left the corporate world to learn to fly and start companies in the aviation and agricultural industries due to her desire to work with her husband and spend more time with their daughters.
