Valerie Roehrs Launches Campaign to Bring Common Sense Conservatism Back to Denton County

Local rancher, farmer, and proud Texan steps up to run for Denton County Commissioner, Precinct 4

DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS — Valerie Roehrs, a second-generation Texan and longtime resident of Denton County, has officially launched her campaign for County Commissioner in Precinct 4. With deep roots in agriculture, a strong belief in traditional values, and a sharp eye for fiscal responsibility, Roehrs is pledging to return true conservatism and common sense to the Commissioners Court.

“I grew up hunting and ranching on my family’s 300-acre ranch in Bosque County,” Roehrs said. “My husband Michael and I moved to Denton County in 2006 to raise our two daughters in a place that reflected our rural values. We’ve built a life here rooted in hard work, community, and Texas grit—but the common-sense leadership that once defined our area seems to be slipping away.”

Fighting for Smart Growth and Local Priorities

Roehrs is stepping into the race with a clear vision: to ensure that Denton County’s rapid growth is guided by smart, local-first decision-making—not outside influence or unchecked development.

“Precinct 4 has tremendous development potential,” Roehrs emphasized. “We need a Commissioner who’s hands-on and willing to collaborate with state lawmakers to uphold regulations that benefit our residents, not just big developers. We must put Denton County first—always.”

Her concern for the region’s future isn’t abstract—it’s personal. Roehrs says the area she fell in love with has changed dramatically, and not all for the better.

“Growth is spiraling, and I worry that we’re losing what makes Denton County special. I don’t want to see decisions made that benefit corporations while leaving local families behind. As Commissioner, I will be a full-time advocate for our people, and I’ll bring a modern, conservative approach to how we spend and invest at the county level.”

A Life Built on Faith, Family, and the Land

Valerie Roehrs brings a unique blend of experience to the table. Born and raised in Dallas County, she attended R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton before studying economics in college and earning her MBA. Today, she runs a working farm and cattle operation alongside her husband, Michael. Whether repairing fences or operating her tractor, Valerie stays grounded in the day-to-day work of rural life.

As a Christian, wife, and mother, her values shape everything she does. The couple has been married for 19 years and raised two daughters—Jennifer and Sarah—who are both now in college. They live near Argyle, with a handful of barn cats, chickens, and loyal dogs rounding out their family.

Ready to Serve, Ready to Lead

Valerie’s message is simple but powerful: Denton County deserves representation rooted in integrity, experience, and common sense.

“I owe so much to this place. I’m running because I love it—and because I know we can do better. I will work tirelessly to make sure the people of Precinct 4 have a voice at the table. It’s time for leadership that puts Denton Countians first.”
